So you made it to your first date! Things are hot and spicy and everything is going as planned.
You look good…you smell good…and your date couldn’t get any better.
That is until you have to actually talk to your date.

What exactly should you be saying or asking when you date someone for the first time?

If you’re at a loss, or perhaps need a few suggestions, then check out these 5 questions to ask on a first date!

I just want to also throw this out there right now and tell you that yes, your first date will most likely feel a bit awkward. This is normal. In fact, you should expect to feel awkward because it’s bound to happen.

You have two people who barely know each other and you’re trying to get to know each other. Awkward moments will be lurking at least until you both feel comfortable enough around each other to share your life.

Actually, the point and goal of any first date should boil down to this one thing:

Your first date is all about filling out your date to see whether or not you’re compatible enough to make a relationship grow.

With that being said, your first set of questions on your first actual date with someone should not sound like marriage vows, a job interview, or an interrogation.

Your #1 goal is to get to know this person more. Learn what they like, what they dislike, and letting them know what you like and dislike.  So having the right questions to ask on a first date is gonna be important.

If you both like the same things, then voila! Your carefree conversation will emerge and blossom like a radiant flower!

Also, unless this is a blind date, chances are, you already know a little about your date already.
So some common questions you’ll wanna ask, without feeling corning, demanding, or aggressive are:

What do you like to do for fun?

What’s your favorite movie?

What kind of music do you like?

(Sidenote: these types of questions could also lead you into a second date, say, for example, somewhere that’s fun, like a movie, or music event…just sayin.)

Do you like to travel?

This question can lead to a series of smaller, trail-off questions such as,
Where have you traveled before?
What was the best place you’ve ever traveled to?
What was the funniest memory you had when you traveled?
Where would you like to travel to in the future?

The last question you can ask if you are completely out of ideas and have nothing else to ask, and your conversation is getting cut short because of it, you can always shine the light onto yourself and have it bounce back onto your date.

Here’s an example:
I really like this restaurant, how about you?
This is my favorite food! What’s yours?
I hope these questions help you and I hope you’re able to use them during your first date!
