Where is the Light? – Pathways to Organization

This is the time of year when we turn our thoughts to peace, joy and goodwill. But when I read the headlines or see the news on TV, I become very cynical, sad, angry and even fearful.

“How could people treat other people like that,” I ask myself. “What happened to the Golden Rule where we are supposed to ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you?’”

And then I remember. Life has always had its darkness, its evil elements. That’s the consequence of sin that entered the world.

And God, to show us He knows what is going on, that He is in control, that He is the God who loves us, sent a light to dispel the darkness and to reveal Himself.

God said, “Let there be light” at the very beginning. He then sent a star to shine radiant light on the blessed, holy event of the birth of His Son!

And to us He sent these words, first to Isaiah (60:1-3) and then to us:

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples;

But the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will appear upon you.

And nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

God sent His light to reveal the truth from the darkness in the image of His Son!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:1, 4-5)

Jesus came so that we would be able to see the truth. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12

Christmas is here to remind us of the Precious Gift God gave to you and me. That yes, there is great darkness and evil but…

“If we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” I John 1:7

Jesus came for you and me to walk in light away from the darkness.  I pray with all my heart that you have a Christmas full of His light in you so that others will see your light and come to the One who saved us.

Merry Christmas!
