Turning Mountains into Molehills - A Valentine's Card from God

Do you remember the cartoon “Love is………..” by cartoonist Kim Casali from New Zealand. These little cartoons usually showed a cute couple with a caption that defined an aspect of love. A few examples showed us “Love is………………….camping out under the stars together.” or “Love is…………………a feeling to treasure.” These cartoons brought smiles to millions of people over the years. Many of these images appear on Valentine Cards too.

Valentine’s Day is Friday, and many people are rushing to buy gifts for their special Valentine’s. But, for some, it will be just another day. Loss, bitterness, and loneliness overshadow the celebration of love. Even if all forms of earthly love leaves you feeling empty, there is one love that never fails or harms us. That perfect love comes from our heavenly Father. His love is pure and unending. So, let’s review some of the ways God loves us.

Valentine Card

I love you so much; I sent my Son to die on the cross to save you from your sins, and so we could spend eternity together.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16,

I love you so much; I will adopt you as my sons and daughters, and you will inherit eternal life.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

1 John 3:1

How Do I love you?

I love you so much; that my plans will give you hope and a future. I plan to show you the way to go, and we can work together to make a difference in the world.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11,

I love you so much; I will forgive you when you sin against me and return to me.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8,

I love you so much; I will carry your burdens so you can rest in my loving embrace.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Let me count the ways

I love you so much; I know everything about you, and I care for every aspect of your life.

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

Matthew 10:30,

I love you so much; I will make sure everything works out for your good when you work for me.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Romans 8:28

And I love you so much; that I will teach you how to love others so that you can live in peace.

“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
