How to Keep Your Faith Intact When Moving to Another Country
Moving to a new place can be an incredible adventure – especially when it’s another country.
When we move to another country to experience different cultures and ways of life, it can be a wonderful eye-opener and can reinforce our faith.
Indeed, it may also be a real challenge to our faith.
So how can we keep our faith intact when we go to another country?
First, Don’t Think About Permanence.
Life is all about continual change.
And if we move to another country, there may be some sense of permanence associated with it. But, it may be for just a season.
Take the opportunities as and when they arise.
Also, do the things that you can do to prepare yourself for the move.
For example, you can use a home loan calculator, to see just how much house you can afford.
You can take the opportunity to try out a new place and see if it fits with your budget and plans.
Second, Embrace Community.
If you’ve decided to move to another country, you will also need to embrace your new community.
It may be that you wish to expand your faith and find an opportunity to practice it. In this case, you may have to look online.
Even if you’re not able to attend a local church service, you can stream a service as you like.
More and more churches are offering online worship services all around the globe.
Third, Remind Yourself of Your Values
Going to another country is an opportunity to expose yourself to new cultures.
It can be a joy to make new friends and enjoy new foods. As you make new friends, you will have opportunities to grow and share your faith.
Additionally, you will also have chances to be strengthened in your values and in what you believe.
Finally, Enjoy Your New Surroundings.
As you move to a new place, be sure to take your Bible and an abundance of good books with you.
Sitting up a mountain reading the Bible can be inspiring. Indeed, you may experience God in a brand new way in your new setting.
You can also expand your prayer life and start journaling to stay close to the Lord.
