Trees mentioned in the Scriptures - 1/2 - Raising Zion

We find different types of trees mentioned in the Bible. For example, in Isaiah 61:3, we can find the phrase “Trees of righteousness” has been used.

Trees of Righteousness

It refers to believers who wholeheartedly follow the Lord in their daily lives. They are diligent in living righteously for Him. They are also known as the Planting of the Lord.

However, the Scripture does also mention of some other trees, which have significant spiritual meaning as well.

Let us see what each of these are and their scriptural meaning:

The Vine Trees

The vine produces grape fruit, which is used to make wine or grape juice. People drink wine to enjoy, have a good time and temporarily ease them from emotional and physiological stress. Vine gladdens the heart of God and man. Spiritually, this tree also refers to joy, but, of a different kind.

This Tree refers to the experience of being filled with joy through the Anointing. It also refers to making the heart of God glad. And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart. Psalms 104 :15. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. When we abide in Him, we can bring forth much fruit for God. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5. Let 2021 be the year in which we are able to have a more closer walk with Christ.

The Fig Trees

It is compared to 4 different concepts but varies according to its usage:

Jews

The Word of God clearly defines who an actual Jew is — For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:28,29. Therefore, a real Jew is one who has been circumcised in his/her heart through the Spirit.

Secondly, a real Jew is one who worships God in Spirit and in Truth, one who is joyful and proud in Christ alone and has no confidence in the flesh. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:3.

Sweetness

Sweetness referring to Good Character, that is, having no bitterness in the heart. But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? Judges 9:11.

Healing

King Hezekiah was sick unto death because of a boil. And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. 2 Kings 20:7. During these days, the world needs healing from the greatest disease ever present – SIN.

Trees that are Fruitful

Jesus shared a parable about a fig tree within a vineyard in Luke 13:6-9. It was not giving any fruit. We see the keeper of the garden pleading with the Master to not cut off the tree, and to give it some more time. And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. Luke 13:8,9
