Are you seeing what you are seeing? – Part 1 – Don’t miss the small pieces!

One night as I laid in bed contemplating where or not I was going to get up to spend time with God, I felt an intense urge to go into the living room. Grumbling I got up and went.

On switching on the light, I noticed a scene before me. A container of cookies had fallen over and, now, all the broken bits and pieces of cookies littered the floor. I sprang into action. After picking up the larger pieces and putting them away, I used a cloth to clean up the crumbs.

Satisfied that all was clean, I stood to go wash the cloth I had used. In coming back, I noticed what looked to be a spot that I had missed. I got down on my knees and checked the area. The spot I saw initially was clean, however, I noticed another set of crumbs that I had missed. I wiped them up before doing another check of the area, from my lowered position. Satisfied that all was well, I got up. It was at that moment a thought formed in my mind:

Don’t miss the small pieces!

Puzzled, I questioned “Lord, what do you mean?” He then reminded me of the entire process that I had gone through. When I came out and saw the mess, I immediately spotted the large pieces of broken cookies despite standing high up and not wearing my glasses. However, I had to get down on my knees to spot the smaller pieces and crumbs that were not easily seen. He ended with:

You are seeing the mess, half-blinded, from high above. Only on your knees, before Me, will you see the small pieces at work.

As Christians, we cannot rely solely on our “high view” physical sight. Many times we look around and all we see is a “mess”. From that half-blinded state, we fail to see the root pieces that are at work. Because of this, many of us end up:

  1. fighting the wrong things while the enemy looks on laughing as he wrecks havoc in our lives, or
  2. walking away from the messes that are meant to be blessings that bring us closer to God and our purpose.

It is only when we get down on our knees before God that He is able to show us all the pieces that we have missed. He rights our distorted view of the picture and reveals to us the purpose in our mess or the root enemy that is causing the mess.

The Point? I assure you there is one… 🙂

we need God to give us crystal clear spiritual clarity for all the messes in our lives.

Crumbs are not easy to see, especially when you don’t have the best eyesight and you are looking onwards from a high point without our glasses. This is why we need God to give us crystal clear spiritual clarity for all the messes in our lives. So my question to you is, are you seeing all the spiritual big and small pieces of the entire picture? Get on your knees, seek God and look again.

Thank you for stopping by and making a discovery by design. I would love to hear your testimony, tell me about a time you missed the small pieces in the mess that you were facing. What was the outcome? Share your story in the comments section, below.

I would love to pray with you. If you have a prayer request, drop me an email here or at discoverbydesign@outlook.com.

My all-time favourite thing to do is gaining discoveries by design from My Father during our time each day. Reading, learning and trying new things falls behind in a close second place. My dream is to use my God-given talents to positively impact as many people as possible.
