How To Deal With Pride In Our Hearts? - Raising Zion

Pride is a terrible nature to walk in; coming out of it is like getting out of a pitch dark prison. A lonely cell called solitary. In fact, it is so deadly that you begin to believe that it’s the entire world, a solitary pitch dark cell. Till the guard comes to check with his torchlight; giving a glimpse of hope.

We couldn’t have known unless Christ wouldn’t have shined His light into our hearts. God hates pride, it’s numero uno on His list of the things He hates (Proverbs 6:17).

As believers now, rescued from the darkness and brought into this marvellous light, God reveals our state through His word and Spirit so we may grow from faith to faith, glory to glory.

When Pride meets Jesus, what happens?

The young man who approached Jesus was very sure about his spiritual state. He thought he was perfect because he never broke the 10 commandments. He was blinded by his religiosity. Till Jesus helped him realise that he loved his wealth more than God. His confidence was rooted in money, not his relationship with God. (Matthew 19:20-24)

Paul, before he knew Jesus, was overwhelmed with pride and anger, for his religion, to the extent that he killed believers. He loved being right. Paul was ‘exceedingly mad’ against believers when he was fuelled by the hypocrisy of religion. (Acts 26:4-6; 9-11)

The sin of pride is too subtle for us to fight against. That’s why we need to learn directly from Jesus.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

We need to love His presence. Hear from Him. Follow Him. Stay in His presence. He will see us through. The day of Christ is near, Maranatha, praise God and amen!
