How to Handle Weather in the North East - Melanie Redd
Northeastern America is well known for its delicious food, chilly weather, and unique cities.
But, perched on the Atlantic Ocean, this portion of the United States has surprise after surprise.
Unfortunately, the most predictable thing about the weather is that it’s unpredictable.
Pulling in icy weather from the north and warm ocean currents that drift up seasonally, it’s no wonder that this area gets blanketed in the winter.
If you’re planning on spending some time in the North East, here are some seasonal considerations:
Weather in the North East: Warm and Calm Summers
The summer in this portion of the country is soothing and nice, with temperatures rarely reaching over 85 degrees.
Heavy seasonal rain means that this area stays green and bright and isn’t as prone to fire as many other areas this far up from the equator.
Although the summers are warm and comfortable, it can feel like they slip away to fall far too quickly.
The north-eastern summer is the perfect place for summer parks and vacation getaways, but autumn is something else entirely.
Weather in the North East: Beautiful and Short Falls
The falls in the northeast are unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
Because of the varying terrain and the countless trees, the countryside erupts into beautiful displays of gold, red, and yellow.
You won’t know where to look next, but you’ll want to drink in every glimpse of it.
It’s a good idea to look ahead at what festivals are scheduled. That way, you can stop in for some fresh apple cider or taking part in a haunted hay-ride.
Although the northeast is known for its winter, the fall is truly the season where it gets a chance to shine.
Weather in the North East: Intense Winters
Winter in the northeast is a mess of endless snow, incredibly low temperatures, and fleeing elderly folks who get referred to as snow-birds because they return once it starts to warm up again.
The winters can feel incredibly long if you’re not prepared for them; there’s no surprise that this area birthed incredible writers like Stephen King.
Fortunately, you don’t have to spend the entire season locked away!
With winter comes winter festivities, ice skating, skiing, sledding, and just getting out and enjoying the refreshing crisp air is enough to make anyone smile.
Of course, it’s absolutely cold, and the weather is hard to predict, but there’s no reason to avoid this area just because it’s a little cold.
Weather in the North East: Easy but Short Springs
Spring emerges slowly, then all at once.
You’ll be so used to seeing Albany houses for sale covered in snow that you’ll be surprised when you’re suddenly seeing them with bright green lawns and fun summery decor.
There’s nothing wrong with getting to know the area and learning what the spring is like. However, you should give winter a chance so that it feels like you’ve earned the beautiful spring.
Final Thoughts about Weather in the North East
The northeast isn’t an area to ignore or skip over; it’s both beautiful and interesting.
There is enough fun to do and see to keep anyone busy for a lifetime.
