An Easy Life On Earth Is A Recipe For Disaster - Raising Zion

recipe for disaster

A father was reasoning with his son over the need for working hard when young. Realising he isn’t listening, the Dad said, “Get Out” (the room).

The son took the dad and all his free gifts of provision and privilege for granted. He was an obedient child, but frustrated with life. He was self entitled, which is a recipe for disaster. Typical story for most faith-bred children.

The prodigal son parable is an apt state of affairs for most believing children. They believe they know better than their elders. Free food, clothing, shelter for children always has a backstory of pain and suffering. Most children do not get it. They need to be trained to realise nothing comes easy. Suffering in this world is inevitable.

How to avoid this recipe for disaster?

When we get comfortable here, we fail to see the things God is doing for us. Comforts of this earth makes us forget the comforts of heaven. Dust mixes with everything if not regulated. We need to protect ourselves from all kinds of mingling today.

We are not of this world. This is not home because we are of heaven, God saved us. We need to live out heaven now so others can be saved too. We need to get out of this comfort zone of this world and begin living in the comfort of heaven. Then and then only will we be able to grow in hope, joy, peace and love.

You don’t necessarily need to leave the house. What we need is a change of mindset. A mind that is in Christ Jesus. The mind to serve, to give freely, to walk humbly before God and man. Everything of this world will perish. Everything we achieve will become nothing. But, everything we do in Christ Jesus, will remain forever.

Let’s provoke one another to good works, to love and live for Jesus everyday. To labour for life eternal. Maranatha, Praise God and Amen!
