Do Not Be Discouraged - She Believes

Lets talk. Discouragement affects all of us and it’s something that I struggle with at times. We hit roadblocks, and then ask what’s next? And usually, we even give up. Or what about when life is just so overwhelming? Personally, I have felt alone, unappreciated and with no help in sight. It’s not a good feeling, right?

You’re Not Alone

When I feel discouraged, I tend to throw my own pity party, lol. I’ll just give up and I won’t do anything. But I can feel the Holy Spirit within me nudging me and telling me “don’t give up.” I try to ignore the voice or I’ll even continue to wallow in my own sorrow. I wait for someone to come to my rescue and tell me everything will be okay. (To be honest, that usually doesn’t happen because I tend to not talk about how I’m feeling with others, I’m working on that, lol.) What does usually happen is that God starts speaking through the people I interact with, or through the scripture I’m currently reading, or even social media. He reminds me to “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

You Got Me, God

When God finally gets my attention, I’ll say, ok God, I’m listening. The thing that God does is redirect my focus from my own thoughts to what He says instead. So, take the verse I mentioned above, Joshua 1:9. God is telling me here do not be discouraged, He is with me wherever I go. So, instead of wallowing in my own discouraging thoughts, I can choose to say, God is with me right here, right now. His Word and my belief in what He says, brings me comfort. I trust that He is working everything out for my good. That while I may feel like I hit a dead end, He says that He is directing my steps according to His purpose.

This is a promise for you too!

The beautiful and amazing thing about God is that His promises are not only reserved for a selected few. His promises are for all of those who choose to accept it. It is there for the taking! We block our own blessings because we choose to not believe in what He says. He has SO much to give us and all we have to do is believe.
