3 Things To Do To Attain Godly Peace - She Believes

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7

Just Pray About It?

Many of us have heard preachers, teachers, family or friends tell us that God provides us with peace that surpasses all understanding. Just pray about it, everyone says. But ever feel as though you prayed that prayer and have yet to receive peace? How can I receive peace from God? How can I receive the peace that everyone keeps talking about? How am I suppose to feel peace when my life is full of chaos?

3 things to do to attain Godly peace

When we read the verse above, we find three key points on how we can attain the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

  • Rejoice. You might say, rejoice? There is nothing in my life to rejoice about. But yet there is. God has brought us salvation through his son Jesus Christ. God has redeemed us. He has separated us for Himself. God has made us new. God has given us a new life.
  • Tell God your requests. Pray. Let God know what it is you’re worried or anxious about. Express it truly and fully. Let Him know the troubles of your heart. Let it out. He wants to hear you and help you, He wants to give you peace.
  • Thanksgiving. Ever try to express thankfulness and worry at the same time? It’s not possible. So instead of expressing worry, express thankfulness. We should thank God for the blessings He has and is providing us. He has given us a new morning, He has given us breath, He has given us people that love and care for us, He has given us shelter and provided us with food, among many others. Truly thank God for the things that are around you. I am sure you can think of a few things that you can be thankful for.

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness…” Isaiah 61:10

Isaiah 6:10

Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks

Again, the answer to peace as Paul so beautifully said it, is to, rejoice, pray and give thanks. Make it a habit to start and/or end your day in this way. Or even in the midst of chaos, take a moment to do this. Peace is attainable and it is found in the person of Jesus Christ. He loves you so much and wants you to give you an abundant life full of love, joy and peace.
