I'm Glad I've a God Who Knows

One of the things that I find the most comforting in the Bible is that God is all-knowing. So many times it says, God knows…
He knows the number of hairs on our heads.
He knows our sorrows.
He knows what we have need of before we ask Him.
He knows the secrets of our hearts.
He knows the way that I take.

He understands us far more than we understand ourselves. Because He made us, He knows the way we think. Other people don't always understand us because they don't know everything about us. But God knows us. Our husband may care deeply, yet he doesn't know what it's like to be a woman–to be pregnant, to be in labour, to have a miscarriage, to have baby blues and so on. But God created women! He doesn't excuse our sin, but he understands us like no one else. I find huge comfort in that!

But He doesn't only know, He also cares. There would be no comfort in the fact that God is all-knowing if He wasn't also caring.

One evening, my whole household was asleep. Johan had gone to bed early for some reason and I was having some quiet time. I told the Lord I would like to write songs for children. I was reading Matthew 6 at the place where it talks about how God knows what we need. Half an hour later I had this song! Ask and it shall be given you!
