Why does God need to test our faith in him? -

Storms will come in life, we will always face troubles, but God is always with us and will never help us weather the wind and rain, coming out stronger on the other side.

Why does God need to test our faith in him?

Jesus calming the storm is one of the most powerful messages on faith and trust in the Bible. But this example of God’s power would have never happened without the storm. So does God test our faith in him?

“Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement, they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” Luke 8:25

God is our Heavenly Father, and just like the perfect Father he is, he does not wish us harm; however, this is often a result of our choices through life. In any situation, we cannot understand the ways of God. We are often left wondering why bad things must happen. But God sees the entire picture, the cause and the effect of every circumstance. And sometimes he has to bear the pain of watching his children go through trials to come out stronger on the other side. We are quick to blame God and slow to remember that he is deeply pained when we sin and suffer. He had to watch his own Son die on a Cross knowing it would grant Salvation for all of mankind. This life is temporary, and we can be sure that God hurts deeply when we suffer. We cannot see the future, but God will endure any storm with us and see us through it. So instead of questioning God’s plan, we should endure life’s storms; be a light to others, even in the darkness.

Photographer’s Notes– Capturing ‘Faithful Light’

‘Faithful light’ is a call to each of us as Christians to endure the storm, knowing God is right there in our boat, ready to calm the storm in the perfect moment. If we are to look to Christ as our example, then we are called to shine our light in the darkest storms; being an example of how to weather life’s troubles.

This shot was taken at night with a 300mm lens and fast shutter to ensure we captured the way the light illuminated the rain without overexposing the darkening sky in the distance. It was important to send the message that storms will come, we must be a light in the storm and God will help us to weather through the wind and rain.
