What comes into your mind when you hear of this? “Life is a journey, not a destination?” I believe it is quite self-explanatory but in this post, I will throw more light on it. Life is such a complex network that needs to be understood well by the average person.

Sadly, many people worry so much about their past lives or current situations because it looks very awkward and disappointing. So fears of the future start gripping them.

It becomes a nightmare that drives out their hopes. Oh wait… do you think things are always going to be the same? Don’t get it wrong.

Here I challenge you to be optimistic from today. Keeping a clear and positive mindset at all times wades off unnecessary fears and worries. You can’t control everything that happens in your life… Get yourself some snacks or coffee; release the stress and enjoy the journey.

What Is The Meaning Of Life Is A Journey Not A Destination?

It simply means you are going to experience constant changes that may positively or negatively affect your life.

It would depend on how you organize your life through your thinking, decision-making, and actions. All these fall under the power of ‘time‘ that waits for nobody. It’s always 24 hours a day for everyone.

The hand of the clock is always ticking, it has no destination. Let me say, the day it stops moving —then we will presume the clock is dead.

Life is a journey not a destination

You are going through a journey that can’t be reversed. Everything you do or say would have its own consequences. Each day has its own story that may be positive or negative.

Every single action you take within your lifespan matters. Your words or actions each day would be a blessing or a curse in your life. Remember to take that responsibility and never blame anyone.

What is life itself?

By definition, life is:

“the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body.”

In other words, it is the period between birth and death.

Everything that happens within that period is what matters. And a lot of activities go on.

What Is Destination?

We can simply say a destination is the purposed end point of something. If you reach such a point —there is nothing new or special movement you can do. A good example is ‘death.’ Death could refer to psychological death. To a larger extent, it is when everything ceases to exist.

In combination, we can understand that life —being a journey, not a destination highlights your activities as a human until you finally go to rest. If you are at rest, there is nothing to take charge of. You would be waiting for the judgment day to account for how you took that journey on earth.

It is important to notice that ‘destination‘ in this context means being stuck in life; thus there is nothing like a progressive move.

So if you really want to be in charge of your journey —it is today. I mean this very moment, use your energy, wisdom, money, and other resources wisely. In the long run, the payoff would be great!

What you do today would reflect your tomorrow. So learn how to sow good seeds so that you can reap good fruits later on.

What Comes Into Mind When You Hear About Life Being A Journey?

Two things quickly come into my mind when I hear this:

1. Growth is inevitable
2. Death is inevitable

Ain’t your planning to go down the road to success? I tell you the truth, it’s very crooked. It takes people with positive mindsets to chase their dreams without giving up.

Now, before I say anything about the two points above —Let me freak you out with one bitter truth.

There is a native American Proverb that says anytime the sun rises from the East and sets in the West — it takes part of your life.

Wow! So from 6 am to 6 pm the sun strips off part of our lives.

Growth: By nature, humans are meant to grow; mentally, physically, and spiritually. You can enjoy these transformations but there would be challenges.

It takes both rain and sunshine to appreciate the amazing beauty of nature. Be ready to face any storm that will blow against you.

When I am out there sharing the salvation plan of God (evangelism), I often ask people to take a look backward. I ask “what’s your age?”, 45, the person responds. Then I ask him to take a look at life 30 years back.

I say this to remind the said person about the journey he has gone through so far on earth. In realization, he will understand that he has gone through a lot of changes.

And then again, I ask the said person to project his life forward to about 30 years.

The bitter truth is, there is no guarantee of being alive tomorrow or in the next 30 years. But if it happens, there would be a lot of changes.

Maslow’s 5 hierarchy of needs is a psychological motivation for growth that includes personal development. The theory explains the behavioral patterns of humans as they strive to meet their needs within their existence or journey on earth.

The truth is, humans never get satisfied with their needs. They crave more and more until they die.

Death: This goes beyond our metaphysical world. Life ends here on earth if one takes his last breath. However, there is the afterlife waiting for us.

So, in life, we must seek what is truly important while we journey along. Yesterday is gone. You can’t change the hands of time. Today is here, you can make a great impact. Tomorrow is not yet here, don’t stress about it.

Think About The Most important Things

Our priorities in life would never be the same because we are people with different beliefs, talents, ideologies, and so forth.

If you think your job, family, education, friends, spirituality, etc, are the most important things for you; then know how to handle them in the best way you can —to bring good results to your life and that of others.

One thing surely has to come before another. And it takes an open-minded person to make good decisions concerning what matters in life and what is a waste of time.

In all, humans aim to be productive in life irrespective of the amount of time given. We strive to enjoy life and live happily. Keep going until you take your last breath.

Make every second count and learn how to be happy and stay positive in every circumstance you find yourself; This is one big secret to happiness.

Always remember that life is a journey, not a destination. Things can change for the better only if you make the right decisions today.

The journey is real, but not everyone enjoys it. Your thoughts, decisions, and actions can influence your future. Don’t be like a fool who regrets at last and says “had I known.”
