1 Chronicles 4:10. Praying for God's Blessing - Wellspring Christian Ministries

1 Chronicles 4 vs 9-10

  1. 1 chronicle 4 outlines the clans of Judah.
  2. Verse 9 – 10 says ‘’And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.’’
  3. Jabez was a person whose birth, name, ancestors, and family background limited.
  4. Perhaps you are in such position, maybe your family background has limited you financially and academically.
  5. The Bible makes us to understand that Jabez was not the only person from his clan, but he was wiser than others. That is why the Bible says he was more honourable that his brethren.
  6. What brought Jabez honour was that he cried to God and did not accept his limitations, he did not accept the situation that his family has put him into.
  7. Even thou his mother called him sorrow and has prophesised that nothing good, joyful, or exciting will ever come out of his life, but Jabez rejected the limitation and the prophesy.
  8. Jabez cried to God for a new name, new glory, and new history and God answered his prayer.
  9. Do not allow yourself to be limited, you have a God who is an unlimited God, who changes destiny, who changes situations, and turns sorrow to fame.
  10. You need to remember you have a God to which you can cry.
  11. Just has the story of Jabez changes, your story will be changed.
  12. When you cry to God and your story changed, then people will call you honourable, you become powerful, you become famous, you become comfortable, and you become prosperous.
  13. It is only God that can make you honourable.
  14. As you cry to God, honour shall come your way in Jesus mighty name. Amen
