Praying God’s Word Wednesday #47: Ephesians 3:20

Let me be the 10,000th person today to say, “May the Fourth be with you!”  Whether you are a Star Wars fan or not (come on – Baby Yoda?), we can draw lots of biblical parallels to the storylines.  George Lucas even admitted once in an interview that the spiritual elements were intentional.  Good versus evil.  Dark and light.  Personal sacrifice for the greater good.  A destiny to fulfill (prophesy, anyone?).  And this is only scratching the surface.  Going scene by scene in the movies reveals more lessons than a teacher’s planner.  But today I want to focus on “The Force” and Ephesians 3:20.

Obi-Wan Kenobi described The Force as “what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”  Okay, so it’s not a perfect analogy.  Especially when we consider that The Force had a dark side.  No dark exists in God or His power, and He created all living things.  Not the other way around.  But for the sake of May 4th, let’s focus on the similarities.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

As believers in Jesus Christ, God’s power is at work within us.  As Obi-Wan said of the force, “It surrounds and penetrates us.”  It not only creates in us a power that is so much more than we have on our own, but a power that is so much more than our feeble minds could even dream up!  So I pray for you:

Replace the pronouns with the appropriate ones for the person (or yourself) that you are praying for.
