God’s Spiritual Goals For You – Part 2

God has spiritual goals for you and your life. More than anything God wants close fellowship with you, and for you to enjoy intimacy with God.

God also want you to join Him in His kingdom work, of reaching lost people and helping others to grow.

Another of God’s spiritual goals is to make you the very best you can be. Which is to be like Jesus. A person of high character, and of increasing glory and honor.

In Part 1 of God’s Spiritual Goals For You we looked at the first of God’s spiritual goals and desires for you. Close and intimate fellowship with God. More than anything. God desires close fellowship with you.

Now in Part 2 of God’s Spiritual Goals For You we will look and the 2nd and 3rd of God’s goals.

God’s Spiritual Goals For You

God’s Spiritual Goals # 2 – For You To Be Completely One With God

An important part of having close fellowship with God is being completely one with Him. Jesus is a great example for us to follow. Jesus had very close and intimate fellowship with God. He spent much time in prayer and in God’s presence. Seeking God’s will, and seeking where God was at work so Jesus could join Him in God’s kingdom work and mission.

Jesus also was completely one with God. Jesus did not have His own will. Or His own plans. Or His own way of doing things. Jesus was fully submitted and committed to God. God’s will was Jesus’ will. God’s ways were Jesus’ ways. God’s plans were Jesus’ plans.

God wants you to fully submit your life to Him. And to let go of your own will, plans, and ways. And to surrender your own desires, interests, priorities… If you do not fully surrender to God daily, your human nature will take over. And you will follow your own ways, and pursue your own desires and will.

Luke 9:23 “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily (take up God’s will and not your own), and follow Me.”

One of the greatest prayers in the Bible was when Jesus prayed before He was about to suffer and die on the cross. He struggled to follow God’s will, but God gave Him the grace and strength to finish the assignment. The assignment to pay the price for all of our sins, so that many could experience the joy of God’s gift of redemption and salvation.

Bible Verses On Being One With God

Luke 22:42 – “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”

John 17:20-23 – “I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word, that they may all be one. Just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

John 14:21-24 – “The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. And the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.”

God’s Spiritual Goals #3 – Transform You to Be Like Jesus

God loves you greatly. And He wants you to become the very best you can be. To God, the very best you can be is to be like Jesus. A person of Godly character, holy and pure. And a person of honor and glory.

God wants to purify you. And mold and shape you. And fill you with His glory.

Romans 8:28-29 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son…”

2 Corinthians 3:18 – “But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”

Having The Same Heart As Jesus

God also wants you to be like Jesus in His love and devotion for God. God wants to give a heart like Jesus’ heart. A heart filled with Jesus’ love and passion, and faithfulness, and total devotion to God. And He wants to fill you with His agape love for other people.

God also wants you to have the same strong desire and passion to seek and save the lost, and for all people to be saved.

1 Timothy 2:4 – “God wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Luke 19:10 – “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

God also wants to fill you to overflowing with His supernatural love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, and self control. The fruit of the Holy Spirit. This can only happen if you will fully surrender yourself and your life to God. And be faithful and obedient to God.

Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”

Romans 12:1-2 – “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
