Isaiah: The Prophet of Hope

Isaiah: The Prophet of Hope

My new book, Isaiah: The Prophet of Hope has been published and the book is now available on Amazon.

Below is a brief excerpt from the book:

Isaiah was a remarkable prophet. He was able to involve his wife and his children in his ministry, “I and the children whom Yahweh has given me shall become signs and portents in Israel on behalf of Yahweh Sabaoth” (Isaiah 8:18 NJB). He was able to gather a group of followers who kept his prophetic ministry alive for two centuries.

Isaiah’s and his disciples’ message of hope includes the promise of a new age, the hope of a faithful remnant, the hope of a coming Messiah, the establishment of a messianic reign of God, the end of exile, the new exodus and the return of Judah to Jerusalem, the coming of new heaven and new earth (Isaiah 65:17–25; 66:22–23), and the hope of a radical new world where a new king from the house of David will reign in righteousness.

The promise of God’s comforting his people is repeated throughout the book of Isaiah. As Childs wrote, “Israel is comforted (vv. 8ff.), its election is reconfirmed, and a divine hope for salvation is extended. The God of creation is not only willing but fully able to execute his purpose with Israel and the world” (Childs 2001: 317).
