How to Start Revival with Special Guest Lisa Whittle - Hearing Jesus
Over the past year, the news cycle has been peppered with moments that many of us have never heard before. Stories about revival, ongoing and powerful, encourage us as we learn about what is happening on college campuses across America. The ushering in of a great revival has been a prayer in the hearts of so many, yet it can seem almost too good to be true when we see it happening. To unpack some of what we are seeing, I invited Lisa Whittle onto the show to discuss what the Lord is doing.
Why do you think we are starting to see revival happening in America?
There’s a hunger. The one thing I’ve learned in anything that I’ve studied about revival is there’s always a couple of common elements. It’s prayer, it’s fasting, and there’s confession as well. There’s repentance. And I think if we’ll think about scripture, if we think about what really we know about what moves the heart of the Lord, it is when our heart is postured. And so people will say, well, you know, can you really spark revival? Well, I don’t ever try to predict what God can do. We don’t know where the Holy Spirit is going to move in these revival movements. But what I do believe is that we can position ourselves for revival.
What we know from the Word is that if you seek me with your whole heart, you will find me. And we know from the word, it is the way that we posture and position our heart that God will move in those hearts that are given fully over to him. And so that positioning, any of us can do.
