Two ways anti-Arab racism caught Israel’s leaders off-guard

No, not all Jews are so smart, and not all Arabs are so stupid as bigots say

I’m not going to blame the Simchat Torah pogrom on Jews. That would be Antisemitic. One doesn’t blame the victim.

I’m only asking: How come our leaders didn’t see it coming?

There is always capitalism, where the workers on the ground try to tell the top how things could work better but, full of themselves, no one listens.

But, I think there is something specific here. Anti-Arab racism.

1. Where are the Arab Jews or Druze in the government and the secret services? Not at the top of departments. White Jews are so naïve. A mass murderer only has to smile at us once, and we think he’s ‘a peace partner.’

The naïvity being not just deaf to warnings in the days before the carnage, but unable to imagine that millions are constantly looking forward to us getting murdered and exterminated and willing to die for it, and for years, reasoning it’ll work to appease genocidal terrorists and their constituents.

Not just Arab Jews, also Russian Jews can have a clearer awareness.

You’d think that many of the secret service departments, trying to prevent Muslim extremists from killing us all, would be headed by Arab speakers. They must only have thousands of Arab-Hebrew translators. That’s stupid.

NB: For white people living in a white bubble: 1. They commit injustice by denying entrance to people based on their origin or culture. That’s anti-equality and so, anti-democratic. 2. They live a lie and a mean life. 3. They live a culturally impoverished life. Yet, though maybe not among the elite, but Israeli Ashkenazic and Mizrachic Jews have intermarried so much that demographers no longer can tell the difference between the two groups.

2. It is racist to assume Arabs will be too stupid to ever outsmart us. Arabs took down the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Evil but genius plot.

Ahmed H. Zewail received a Nobel Prize for chemistry, and Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi was a prime mathematician. Present and past Arab, world-renowned scholars are many, far too many to name.

This is not to say that geniuses are more important than the rest of us.

Brilliance can be used for good or bad. Racists find out when it’s too late.
