Comforting Words When You FEEL Uncomfortable
That’s how I felt in them.
They were new, expensive shoes that I’d found ON SALE for $10 at a cute little boutique in the area.
We were attending a wedding at an old antebellum home that was surrounded by brick-lined paths and gardens.
The weather was extra muggy for a Memphis May day, and the bricks became very slippery.
And, my new shoes were slipping and sliding.
I began a sort of “shuffle” so that I wouldn’t fall.
I almost had to pretend I was ice skating to navigate the moist brick paths.
Without incident, we made it through the wedding, the reception, and the festivities. However, I never got really comfortable in my new shoes.
I just adapted to the weirdness and discomfort of walking in them.
Sometimes, like that night in my new shoes, life is uncomfortable.
Things just don’t “fit” or work like we’d wish them to work.
We just feel awkward, strange, and ill-at-ease.
Perhaps, like me, your life is in a rather uncomfortable mode right now.
I’d like to share some verses I’ve found that offer comfort and hope – even when things feel anything but comfortable and hopeful.
Here are 6 Comforting Words When You Feel Uncomfortable:
Word of Comfort One:
As you look up at the skies today, think about this truth: your God “rides across the heavens to help you!”?
The Good News Translation puts it this way, “People of Israel, no god is like your God, riding in splendor across the sky, riding through the clouds to come to your aid.”
Don’t you love this image of our God!??
Word of Comfort Two:
“For the Lord, your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Zephaniah 3:17, NLT
Word of Comfort Three:
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!”
Psalm 91:2, AMP
Word of Comfort Four:
✅Do you ever wonder what God is up to?
✅What is He doing in your life?
✅What is going on?
He is God! And, He reminds us that His ways of thinking/acting are not like ours.
His ways are higher, wiser, and better than ours – always!??
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9, NKJV
Word of Comfort Five:
What an encouraging reminder from scripture!????
“Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].”
1 Cor. 15:58, AMP⭐⭐
Word of Comfort Six:
Sometimes God leads us to walk in hard, rocky places.??
◾Up steep hills…
◾Into cloudy days…
◾Across difficult terrain…
How do we keep going with endurance and hope???
“We do this by KEEPING our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
Hebrews 12:2, NLT
