Where Does the Time Go?

As I sit to write, I realize that it has been two months
since I last posted anything. How can this be? Is it possible that I have
nothing to say? No… I think in a way I have too much to say and not enough time
to get it all in.

These past couple of months I’ve been busy preparing lessons
for the Chinese Church—both for my weekly English class as well as a monthly
sermon; I gave a presentation at a national technical communication conference
in Jerusalem; have fought a bad virus twice; and have not succeeded to make any
progress on my workbook.

Do you to struggle with not getting done all you had planned?

I don’t think I’m alone in this. You make a plan, have a schedule,
and everything gets in the way, including yourself! For me this includes time
well spent, and time badly spent—those wasted hours no one can give back to me.

Are you like me? Do you also beat yourself up over those
failures, and wonder if and when you’ll ever get it straight?

Perhaps it’s at times like this that we need to practice the
grace and mercy God has given to us, not only on others, but on ourselves. A
newsletter I recently received from a writing organization (Hope Writers), got
me thinking. The author wrote, “Release the burden … just accept the gift of
living life the way it is right now with all its challenges, busyness, and
messiness.”

“My yoke is easy and my burden is light”

When I read those words, I was reminded of the words of
Jesus:

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

Sometimes we just need to accept our weaknesses, our
struggles, the interruptions, our failures, and rest; rest in our Lord, rest
from the world, and just accept life for what it is.

I don’t know what you are struggling with right now… but I
hope this brief post will encourage you to let go of whatever is stressing you,
accept the situation, and let God be God… let Him be your Good Shepherd and let
Him lead you in His rest.

No, we can’t undo the mistakes… but we can accept His
forgiveness, and extend to ourselves the same grace and mercy He has extended
to us. Rejoice in a new day that He offers to us after every night…

“Because of the LORD’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! I say: The LORD is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in Him.”

Lamentations 3:22–24 HCSB

Together, lets take a break from the craziness of life, accept what is, and rest in His love. He wants to carry us. Maybe its time we let Him.
