What Will You See After Your Death? - Christian Perspectives

When Jesus went to the cross, He died and came back to life. Thus, He conquered death and the grave. Because of this accomplishment, even though our physical bodies die, we don’t. With the biggest portion of my life now behind me, I wonder what entering into eternity will be like. Will it be like waking up in a new place? What will you see after your death?

But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” John11:4

Mary and Martha sent a message to Jesus saying their brother was sick. When Jesus heard of Lazarus’ sickness, it wasn’t a priority for Him to go right away.

Now even though Jesus loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, he remained where he was for two more days. Finally, on the third day, he said to his disciples, “Come. It’s time to go to Bethany.” John 11:5-7 TPT

Jesus told His disciples, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.” They thought that it was good for him to be asleep, giving him the rest he needed. They didn’t quite understand what Jesus was saying.

So he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead. And for your sakes, I’m glad I wasn’t there, for now you will really believe. Come, let’s go see him.” John 11:14-15

In this situation, Jesus did raise Lazarus from physical death. Lazarus did however die. We can assume he died of old age. Many see death as the ultimate end. And it is as far as continuing life the way we know it.

What Will You See After Your Death?

Do You See Death as the End

Once our physical bodies die there is one of two places we can spend eternity. We will either have eternal life with the Lord or we will exist in eternity separated from God. One is heaven, the other is hell. Jesus said that we should fear the latter.

“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”  Matthew 10:28

When Jesus talked with Martha, they discussed the resurrection. It was confirmed that she believed in the resurrection. She was however, caught up in the moment of their brother’s death.

When my body takes its last breath, that, my friend, will not be a fatality. When a person takes his last breath and finds himself in the pit of hell, that is as fatal as it gets. Fortunately, a relationship with Jesus is our ticket into heaven. It is a place where we will never talk about death again.
