Your Past Mistakes Do Not Determine Your Future - She Believes

As I sit here and reflect on my life, I think about the many times I fell, the many times I was hurt, the many times where my decisions led to my depression. I think about where would I be now if I would’ve not made those mistakes. Would I be further along in life? Could I had prevented my depression? Was it my fault? Am I too damaged to do or be better?

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

I’ve Been There

I went through my fair share of mistakes, what I now see as valuable lessons. My lessons have taught me about myself, who I was at that particular time. It taught me who I perceived myself to be, about my worth, about my value.

It showed me my heart.

It showed me my scars and the areas that needed healing.

It showed me that my mistakes were decisions based on my perception.

My ignorance.

My mistakes were never meant to shame me but were meant to help me grow. How would I have known what needed growth if I would’ve never fallen? That’s why I say that our past mistakes are not a reflection of our future. But instead are our ladder to our growth.

It’s a Growth Thing

This is what is so amazing about God, that no matter how many times we fall, He only encourages us to get back up. He never points out what you did wrong but focuses on how beautifully made you are. That there is nothing that can get in between His love for you. God is always rooting for you, always there to help you get back up. He wants you to succeed, He wants you to live joyfully and peacefully.

You got this!

It took me a long time to realize this, many years actually. I want to help you realize that you are not your mistakes. Look back and see what you learned and apply it to your now. See the amount of strength and courage it took to keep moving forward despite of your mistakes. See that now you have a clearer vision of what it is that you do or do not want for your future. Examine what it is that you need to work on, mentally and/or emotionally. Take those lessons and create a plan for your future. Build from it and do not let anything overcome you.

Love you all.
