How To Be A Believer When Labourers Are Few? - Raising Zion

labourers are few

Jesus said, the labourers are few. Who are these labourers? God ordained Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Pastors and Evangelists. For God’s work, He recruits His own personnel.

What does it mean for the rest? When you read Romans 12, you see a list of things to do, which are gifts of grace. Then there are gifts that work according to the operation of the Holy Spirit in the life of all Spirit baptised believers.

What Jesus told His disciples to do is relevant for all believers, not just for those who are called for specific ministries.

Unless every believer does not make these commands their own, their lives will remain worldly. Which means they will live like the people in darkness not like those in the light. Christ will remain a religion, not the way of life. Beware of cheap grace preachers who will keep insisting you can do nothing. Which is true, but not the entire truth – you can do all things in Christ who strengthens.

Power is exciting, but remember, this is God’s business, not ours.

What to do when labourers are few?

There is a lot said in Matthew 10:1-22. What are the key messages I want to highlight that apply to all believers? Not just designated ministers.

– God has given us power and authority over evil spirits. To cast out devils and heal the sick under the Holy Spirits direction. The key here is under the Holy Spirits direction – He is the power that will work in and through you.

– Every believer needs to preach repentance, and the coming of the Lord. (Acts 2:37,38)

– Be humble like sheep. Wise as serpents but harmless as doves. Listen to the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

God did not bring us to the light for us to stay lost or confused. He gave us purpose in life. To glorify God in all we do – rescue people from the bondage of sin, and eternal death.

Be careful to not get caught up in the lust of power as God leads you. When you know your place, everything will be fine. God will take care.

What is needed to stay in power and walk with your Pastor or leader? Humility and be poor in spirit.

God’s power requires we trust in Him. A life in holiness and consistent prayer and bible study is necessary to keep the faith – which again, is the work of God’s amazing grace and Holy Spirit that strengthens us daily.

Our time belongs to God; labour for Jesus (John 6:27).

Start today.

Maranatha, Praise God and Amen.
