Inspirational quote background

Do you know what one of the most misquoted Bible verses is?

It’s found in John 2. You know, the account of the first miracle Jesus performed? He’s at a wedding in Cana and they are running out of wine. His mother, Mary, goes to Him and asks Him to do something about it. At first Jesus seems a bit insolent, but Mary’s not fazed by that. She just turns to the servants and says, “Whatever He says, do!” and walks away. Talk about faith!

And you know what happens next. The servants, obeying Jesus’ orders, fill six large pots with water, and take a cup to the master of the feast. He takes sip of the water-now-turned-to-wine, and says to the bridegroom, “Everybody I know begins their feast with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill, brings in the cheap stuff. But you’ve saved the best til… ”

Did you say LAST? Nope, that’s not what the Bible says.

It says, “You have saved the best till NOW.”  (John 2:10—read it for yourself).

I love that! He’s saved the best until NOW!!!

Now (adverb) 1. at the present time or moment: 2. without further delay; immediately; at once; at this time or juncture in some period under consideration or in some course of proceedings described:

He’s saved the best til this present moment in time!

Jesus said to the woman at the well, “The hour is coming, and now is when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23).

Paul writes, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor 6:2).

Christ has accomplished all that was needed for us to live the abundant life He spoke of in John 10.  He has defeated the foe, won victory over death, hell and the grave. He has reconciled us to the Father, adopted us into His family, making us joint-heirs with Him. He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. He has restored our identity in Him and reconnected us with His intended purpose for our lives.

So often we miss what God is doing in the NOW because we are focused on the challenge we are facing, focused on our past, focused on someday, in the sweet by and by. We fail to see what He has placed right before us, in us, in the moment—in the NOW!! We pray for Him to come when He’s already here. We ask for Him to move and He has already moved. We too often walk through our days not fully awake, so caught up in the routine of life that we are not always present to His Presence; we are not present to His NOW!!

We don’t want to miss His best in the NOW because we are focused on the wrong thing. We don’t want to be like the men traveling the road to Emmaeus, who were so wrapped up in their grief over Jesus’ crucifixion that they missed His Presence with them in the midst of that grief.

Know in each moment God desires to reveal His best for you and for me. Our eyes must be open, our hearts attuned and aligned with His so we can see and experience His best in our NOW.

Healing is NOW! Provision is NOW! Comfort is NOW! Wisdom is NOW! Forgiveness is NOW! Love is NOW! Joy is NOW. Peace is NOW! Strength is NOW! Transformation is NOW! The Kingdom is NOW!!

Look to see the manifestation of what God has already done through the finished work of the Cross. Become sensitive to the NOW. I promise you will be astounded by what you see!
