31 Scriptures to Remember and Explore During the Fall Harvest {+ Printable} - Be Whole, Mom

Are you looking for some bible-centered things to celebrate and consider during the fall harvest season?  Our Abba has so much for us to celebrate in this time of the year, and scripture uses the harvest theme as a major means of communicating a critical message of our Abba: many hearts deeply desire to know Him better.

In our present culture, the fall season is often linked to Halloween and the promotion of things that are associated with darkness.

Our family does not participate in any elements of Halloween (read my post series on Halloween here), so we each year we return to a review of what our Abba loves discuss instead.

While raising children, we have been on an annual search to navigate this season in a holy way for years.  I cannot say we have it down pat, but year after year as the oldest children grow, we can see the fruit of our labor to help them separate darkness from True Light.

Parenting is hard work, and raising a child up in the wisdom and knowledge of God in a post-modern world is no easy feat.  We have no guarantees (save for Christ), but we can continue to do the work of goodness in our lives, and then hand the results over to our Abba.

The term harvest is a special term used in scripture.  It is often associated with the Godly work of salvation.  It is a result of hard work and a beautiful imagery we get to enjoy each year as we remember the work we are each called to do.

This is a special symbolism to teach to our children.  They may or may not understand it right away, and that’s ok.  I believe, though, that by the repeated nature of the annual cycles we have a great opportunity to plant seeds of goodness and water them in the patient hope of their growth in time.

As we continue to use annual lessons and the beauty of creation to speak to our children about the Truths of scripture and the Character of our Abba, we can place our hope and peace in Him who loves our children even more than we do.  It is hard to imagine that someone else could possibly love our children more than we do, but our Abba surely does.

May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!” ~ Deut. 1: 11
