The One Requirement for Following Jesus | HealthWealthVictory

Do you want to follow Jesus and work for Him in His kingdom? Yes, you can. In fact, He’s calling you. Here is the one requirement for following Jesus.

Luke 5:27-32

27 When he went out after this, he noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting at the tax office, and said to him, ‘Follow me.’

28 And leaving everything Levi got up and followed him.

29 In his honour Levi held a great reception in his house, and with them at table was a large gathering of tax collectors and others.

30 The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples and said, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?’

31 Jesus said to them in reply, ‘It is not those that are well who need the doctor, but the sick.

32 I have come to call not the upright but sinners to repentance.’

Jesus called me

What a privilege to know and follow You, Jesus!

I came to know the Lord when I was in sophomore in college.

I would like to say I was highly qualified, possessing all the requirements for following Jesus.

But no. I was running away from the Lord then, doing something I know is a sin.

That time, I’m a nominal Christian, just doing the minimum requirements for being Catholic, like going to Mass on Sundays and such.

But even then I know I was sinning against God. So I was running away, trying to ignore my conscience.

Then a friend came, brought me with her on her vacation where I met her friends who were working full-time for the Lord, passionate and dedicated.

I felt peace and joy radiating through them.

There the Lord met me in a personal way, in a comfort room, of all places, and there I gave my life to Him.

Following Jesus

Through a series of events after that, as I followed Jesus, He led me to a Catholic community, Elim, where I dwelt for around 20 years.

In this Catholic Christian community, I grew in the knowledge and love of God and served with other Catholics like me who were called into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

What a blessed time!

I’m not with them anymore but the Lord has stayed with me through the years even now, guiding me and leading me in victory through all the difficulties of my life.

… then you will find true happiness in Yahweh, and I shall lead you in triumph over the heights of the land. I shall feed you on the heritage of your father Jacob, for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken. Isaiah 58:14

Working for Jesus

Following Jesus means working for Him too.

Everything took on a new meaning.

All I do become work I do for Him, with Him, through Him, and in Him. My job, my side hustles, my hobbies, my relating to others around me.

My life became a witness unto God for others where they can experience God through the way I live life and do things.

Before, I was always riddled with guilt and insecurity, always wondering if I have what it takes to follow and serve the Lord.

Cause it seems I’m always overcome by my weaknesses. I always felt like a hypocrite.

But the Lord has shown me, and I’ve accepted long ago, as long as I’m in this flesh, I will always be imperfect and I will always fall prey to sin and errors.

Even though I’m imperfect, God has proven to me, time and again, that He will always remain the faithful and forgiving Father that He is.

That He will always love me.

I’m His child and will remain His heir no matter what I’ve done or will do.

So now, by God’s grace, I’m still following and working with Him, and He’s even given me this business He has shown me to do: digital content business.

We, God and I, make digital content that brings the good news to the afflicted, inspiring the dreamers in Christ, and I hope to bless and serve billions.

He’s my Chief Executive Officer, the CEO of my life.

I’m the daughter, who manages all His business affairs He’d entrusted to me.

The One Requirement for Following and working with Jesus

Every great company or everyone who hires workers have their own requirements.

To see if an applicant is a perfect fit for working with them.

Not everyone qualifies.

Jesus too has His requirements.

But everyone qualifies.

Here it is, His one requirement for following and working with Him in the work of His kingdom.

Are you a sinner in need of a Savior?

If you are, then you qualify.

Look in the Gospel above:

31 Jesus said to them in reply, ‘It is not those that are well who need the doctor, but the sick. 32 I have come to call not the upright but sinners to repentance.’

If you know you are a sinner and you know you need a Savior, then you are called and you are qualified.

You don’t have to be anything else.

The priest said something beautiful in His homily that I want to share with you. I’ve heard it before and has been such an encouragement to me when I was battling with doubts and insecurities in following Jesus.

He goes:

God does not call those who are equipped. He equips those whom He calls.

Now your turn

Are you a sinner in need of a Savior?

Jesus is calling you.

You have all the requirements for following Jesus.

Follow Him. Work with Him. Do what He tells you to do.

He’s the best Boss you could ever find.

9 Then you will cry for help and Yahweh will answer; you will call and he will say, ‘I am here.’ If you do away with the yoke, the clenched fist and malicious words,

10 if you deprive yourself for the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, your light will rise in the darkness, and your darkest hour will be like noon.

11 Yahweh will always guide you, will satisfy your needs in the scorched land; he will give strength to your bones and you will be like a watered garden, like a flowing spring whose waters never run dry.

12 Your ancient ruins will be rebuilt; you will build on age — old foundations. You will be called ‘Breach-mender’, ‘Restorer of streets to be lived in’.

14 then you will find true happiness in Yahweh, and I shall lead you in triumph over the heights of the land. I shall feed you on the heritage of your father Jacob, for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken.
