Beware of sexual sin

Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birth right was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. 

1. Reuben was the firstborn of Israel, and Israel was Jacob’s the son of Isaac, and Isaac the son of Abraham.
2. Reuben lost his place as the first born because he did not only committed adultery, but he committed it in an obscene  way. He committed adultery with one of his father’s concubines.
3. The consequence of that was that he lost his birthright.
4. If anyone is given an option to either enjoy the pleasure of sin and loose his birthright or to stay chaste and inherit the birthright; It is only a fool that will prefer to go into sexual sin and loose his birthright.
5. It is obvious that when Reuben was going into sexual sin, he never knew the implication and many of us that also involve in different kinds of ungodly activities never know the implication.
6. Looking at how the story of Reuben was told, he became a ceremonial first born because of sin.
7. Therefore, we must be conscious of our activities, and we must run away from ungodly activities.
8. A birthright means so many things. It means you are the first, you are the leader, you have an inheritance, it means glory, but Reuben lost everything because of temporary pleasure.
9. I pray for you, that no matter the temptation, no matter the craving of the flesh, you shall control yourself, you shall not fall into temptation of sexual sin in Jesus’ name.
