Godly femininity a heart matter.

Good day beautiful people

I hope that this message meets you well? Today’s post is centred on femininity a subject quite dare to my heart as it is an area which The Lord is currently training me in.

Firstly I’d like to mention the I’m not an expert in the field of femininity but nonetheless I’d like to share my personal journey with you on how God has transformed the way I think about womanhood.

Romans 12:2 ~ “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Earlier on in my journey my focus was on the importance of upholding good hygiene standards such as smelling sweet like candy,

and ensuring my hair was neat and tidy. Basically ensuring that I nurtured my outward appearance which is an excellent practice to obtain BUT the Holy Spirit pointed me to the fact that godly femininity is a HEART matter. Being a virtuous woman involves carrying out personal reflections by lining up your life against God’s word (am I making effort to pursue holiness by checking I’m as clean on the inside as I am out. This is not achieved through human efforts but by relying on the Holy Spirit and living in obedience to God’s word). You can only give what you have and if one’s heart is full of bitterness and unforgiveness it will be exceptionally difficult for that person to show kindness to others.

So, being a godly feminine woman has a lot to do with the way you behave. Does your character and mannerism glorify God or does your attitude put people off? Are your words gentle and uplifting or do they tear people down (foul or abusive language). Initially my mind was so fixated on sorting out my outward appearance I forgot about the most important attribute of all which helps shape a godly woman… A heart after God’s own heart.

Proverbs 10:21 ~ “The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.”

Colossians 3:12 ~ Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Something I’m presently working on is watching my facial expressions. I’m sure there are many people like me whose facial expressions tell a thousand words. I am trying to be more mindful of my body language by avoiding rolling my eyes or sighing when annoyed as this can come across as rude, and to be honest sometimes I do it without realising but I believe with God’s help bad habits can cease.

Ladies I’d like to encourage us all to watch our tone when speaking to others. When communicating your message maybe very timely and wise yet your delivery can cause someone to be defensive or ignore what you have to say. When reading about the woman described in Proverbs 31 what really spoke to me was the fact that it said she KINDLY instructed others. This is especially important when it comes to raising children as being aggressive in your approach of discipline can cause children to fear, and the Bible say’s father’s (parents) shouldn’t provoke their children. Yelling is not nice and I know it’s easy to shout when you’re angry (I’ve done it before and I sometimes still do), but don’t make it a habit, such an attitude can lead to quarrelling.

Proverbs 31:26 ~ “When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.”

Proverbs 29:22 ~ “An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin.”

Ephesians 6:4 ~ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

What does it mean to be kind? A kind person is usually seen as someone who is warm, tender-hearted, sympathetic, gentle, compassionate, understanding, considerate etc., and I believe that these are qualities Christian women should aspire to have especially considering that Christ also possessed these attributes and we’re called to imitate Christ! A kind person is someone people enjoying being around. A kind heart draws people in and is not repulsive.

Luke 4:22 ~ “Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

^^^ A description of Jesus reading from the scroll of Isaiah. It states in the passage above that Jesus was gracious (courteous, polite, kind) with His words.

Matthew 14:14 ~ When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.

Mark 15:40-41 ~ “Some women were there, watching from a distance, including Mary Magdalene, Mary (the mother of James the younger and of Joseph), and Salome. They had been followers of Jesus and had cared for him while he was in Galilee. Many other women who had come with him to Jerusalem were also there.”

^^^ It’s good for women of God to be caring in nature.

Isaiah 30:18 ~ Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

In summary it is good to take care of your temple and beautify yourself but don’t forget to work on your heart in the process. Working on becoming more like Christ and living to honour God should be your number one priority in life. People may not remember your eye catching outfit in detail but may find it hard to forget your attitude. A friendly person stands out and sadly so does a person with a terrible attitude, the way you treat others can leave a positive or negative lasting effect. I hope that you could learn something from today’s post. Take care and God bless.
