7 Keys To Discover God's Calling On Your Life - Part 2 - Pursuing Intimacy With God

7 Keys to Discover God’s Calling On Your Life (Part 2)

In Part 1 of 7 Keys To Discover God’s Calling On Your Life we discovered the first 3 keys. Including the 2 most important parts of your purpose and God’s calling on your life. First having a restored relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. And second having “koinania” close fellowship with God. “Koinania” fellowship also involves having unity with God, and a partnership in God’s kingdom work & mission.

In Part 2 we will now look at the last 4 of the 7 keys to discover God’s calling on your life.

4. God Places A Desire & A Passion In Your Heart

” For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” – Philippians 2:13

“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son.” – Romans 8:29

You will have love & joy & passion for doing the things God has created you for. And for the assignments He calls you to.

God will give you a heart like His. A heart that is fully devoted to Him. A heart that is filled with God’s desires, and a passion for the things that God is passionate about. Just like Jesus.

5. God Gives Spiritual Gifts To Equip You For Your Calling

When God calls you to join Him in His kingdom work and mission, He does not leave you to do the job alone. God wants to do the work through you, not you trying your best to do His work. And He sends the Holy Spirit to equip you and do God’s work & mission. Without God doing His kingdom work through us, we can do absolutely nothing.

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5

But with God’s presence and with the Holy Spirit, we can accomplish all things that God wants to accomplish through us.

“I can do all things through Him (Christ) who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

6. God’s Presence & Power Will Always Be With You When He Calls You

“Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” – Acts 13:2

The Greek word for called means that God “called them unto Himself”. This means that first God called them to a love relationship with Him. And next it means that God called them to where His presence and His power would be at work. He did not call Barnabas and Saul to try their best to do the work. God called them to join God in what God was doing.

You only need to respond in faith and obedience when God calls. And God will provide the power and whatever else is needed to get the job done.

Moses being called to help lead God’s people out of Egypt is another good example of God’s call. Remember Moses’ response ? “But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” – Exodus 3:11

And Moses also said to God “Then Moses said to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” – Exodus 4:10

Eventually Moses responded in faith and obeyed God’s calling. And God provided the power and everything else to accomplish His will (see Exodus 3 through 14).

7. There Are Some Things That God Calls All Christians To Do

“Come follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19

“Then Jesus came to them and said “All authority in heaven and on earth have been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:18-20

You are not truly following Jesus unless you are being a fisher of men and an active witness for Jesus Christ. God calls you (and all Christians) to tell the lost about Jesus and God’s plan of salvation with them.

He also wants you and other believers to help and teach others, especially new believers. Help them to become fully devoted and passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is a learner and follower of Jesus. God wants you to actively participate in the sharing of the Gospel with others. And He wants you to actively participate in the making of disciples. That is the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20.
