“Behold, I Come Quickly”

New JerusalemAfter the angel showed New Jerusalem to John in Revelation 21–22, the Lord Jesus said three times (v. 22:7, 12, 20), “Behold, I come quickly.” Believe Him!

We might think that His coming was not quick, but that is our own human assessment. We need to believe what He says and answer with John “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” (Rev. 22:20).

In Revelation 22:7, after speaking of His coming, the Lord tells us, “Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this scroll.” We should hold on to all the words including the description of New Jerusalem and His coming quickly.

in Matthew 24:42 the Lord exhorts us, “Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes.” He also said, “be ready, because at an hour when you do not expect it, the Son of Man is coming.” Then He warns us about an evil slave who “says in his heart, my master delays.”

Let us hold to the Word of God, love Him, and “run with endurance the race which is set before us, looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith” (Heb. 12:1-2). We need endurance but we also should expect Him quickly. He can perfect us in both attitudes as we look to Him!
