Christ Becomes a Rich Supply to us for Our Growth unto New Jerusalem (2)

When we received Jesus Christ, who is the eternal life, we became children of God. Now this Christ is a rich supply to us to prepare us for New Jerusalem. More verses about what Christ has become to us:

in 2 Corinthians 5:21 we see “Him [Jesus Christ] who did not know sin He [God] made sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Christ is our righteousness! This prepares us for the “new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13).

New JerusalemJesus told us in John 4:14, “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever.” He also promised that “the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water gushing up into eternal life.”

We already have the Lord as our eternal life but here He promised a fountain in us “gushing up into eternal life.” The word into indicates a goal, which is New Jerusalem.*

In Titus 3:5-7 God’s salvation includes “the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, in order that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” By the rich supply of the Spirit’s renewing of us, we become heirs to inherit the unlimited eternal life of New Jerusalem.
