Christmas sermon on the birth of Jesus Christ: I shall rewrite my family history

Posted on December 24, 2016 Updated on November 29, 2016

Mathew 1 vs 1: The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Mathew 1 vs 17So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

  1. There are 42 generations between the Abraham and birth of Jesus, but Jesus was only called the son of two out of his 42 ancestors.
  2. Jesus was called the Son of Abraham and David.
  3. The forty other ancestors were mentioned just in passing, because they were not story changers like Abraham and David.
  4. Why was Jesus referred to as son of David, son of Abraham? Why not son of Josias, and son of Azor, who are part of his ancestors?
  5. It is simply because the history of the ancestry of Jesus Christ changed during the lifetime of Abraham and David

Prayers:

  1. My name, rewrite the history of my generation in Jesus name
  2. My name, redefine the history of my descendants up to the 42nd generation in Jesus name
  3. My name shall be the reference point for my family in Jesus name

    Sometimes Healing Takes Time

I like instant. I like brewed coffee in a minute or less. I like microwaved leftovers in 45 seconds or less. I like instant text, instant on-line shopping, and instant movies at the click of a button. I’m not a fan of process but would rather have immediate results. One of my favorite words in the New Testament is “immediately.” “Immediately they received their sight” (Matthew 20:34). Read more...
