MARGINALISING THE POOR?

Memorise: “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin and are convinced of the law as transgressors” (James 2:9)

Read: James 2:1-10

“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself” (2 Timothy 2:13).

Another thing God cannot do is deny Himself. The likes of Peter had denied Him at different times. Your unbelief or uncertainty does not make God less of who He is, or do less of what He says He would. Rather, your unbelief limits God’s move concerning your situation. Somebody asked, ‘Where will these religionists and adherents of other faiths go after death, especially when they do not believe in salvation through Jesus Christ?’ The answer is Hell. Whether you believe it or not, the rapture will take place according to God’s time table. Every other programme in God’s time table will follow suit. Your unbelief will not make God to change His Word, or deny Himself.

Similarly, God cannot tolerate hypocrites. The company of hypocrites is on the rise at all levels. Sycophants and praise singers abound in the church today. God hates hypocrites with a passion. He could not stand the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and cried out loud against it. Hypocrisy can make God reject your costly offerings and sacrifices (Isaiah 1:10-15). Are you pretending to be who you are not?

In church you are an angel, but outside you are worse than the devil? If you give some ministers a dagger, they do not mind stabbing their pastor, yet when they see him they feign an atmosphere of reverence, humility and love. Anyone who stabs you at the back but praises you in your presence is a hypocrite. All hypocrites have a terrible end. Repent and come out of hypocrisy today!

God cannot have respect of persons (Romans 2:11). Leaders are greater victims of this. Many leadership positions in churches and ministries are being filled with ‘money bag politicians’. Instead of being led of the Spirit, using merit, age of experience and effective seniority, many leave out the qualified just because they cannot pay back in cash or in kind; they rather appoint those who can spend or give to impress.

As a leader, you will account for all those you have oppressed, because you feel they do not have the means or have not been giving to you. Any leader that allows money or politics of materialism to becloud his sense of judgement will have the Owner of the work to contend with.

Some people are transferred to certain places not because of the need, but because they are not making adequate ‘returns’ to the pastor or senior leader in question. God cannot be brought into such a mess. Have you soiled your hands through undue favoritism orchestrated by money or material politics? Repent and make necessary restitution today.

Some are turning God’s church into road blocks for extortion purposes. It will backfire sooner than later!
