Come to the Throne, Take the Water of Life Freely

Recent posts look at excerpts about New Jerusalem from the book God’s New Testament Economy* along with relevant Bible verses from Revelation 21–22 and other verses about our current Christian experience. Chapter 38 of is about the throne of God and the Lamb and the river which flows out of the throne to bring us the water of life and the tree of life.

The key verses in these posts are Revelation 22:1-2, 14, 17. Some portions are:
22:1 – “a river of water of life…proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb”
22:2 – “on this side and on that side of the river was the tree of life, producing twelve fruits”
22:5 – “night will be no more…for the Lord God will shine upon them”
22:14 – “blessed are those who wash their robes that they may have right to the tree of life”
22:17 – “let him who is thirsty come; let him who wills take the water of life freely”

Here are the first two verses and chorus of a hymn for singing this (words and music):

___Drink! A river pure and clear that’s flowing from the throne;
___Eat! The tree of life with fruits abundant, richly grown;
___Look! No need of lamp nor sun nor moon to keep it bright, for
New Jerusalem___Here there is no night!

______Do come, oh, do come,
______Says Spirit and the Bride:
______Do come, oh, do come,
______Let him that heareth, cry.
______Do come, oh, do come,
______Let him who thirsts and will
______Take freely the water of life!

___Christ, our river, Christ, our water, springing from within;
___Christ, our tree, and Christ, the fruits, to be enjoyed therein,
___Christ, our day, and Christ, our light, and Christ, our morningstar:
___Christ, our everything!

In New Jerusalem, and as much as we seek Him today, Christ is our everything!
