FREIENDSHIP

Opening prayer: Lord help me to see myself from the mirror of your word and to receive grace to put every truth into practice in Jesus name.

When friendship is purposeless it can be drift and be hijacked. When friendship is not committed to or based on fear of God, ungodliness invariable creeps in. The beginning may be free of evils. When evil creeps in they may be so discerned if friends are not committed Christian. Here are some dangers of unchristian friendships.

Friends can give bad advice (1 King 12:8-14) can double-cross us (Ps41:9) can desert us (Ps 38:11); can lead us away from the Lord (Deut 13:6-9). Bad friendship produces iniquity, multiplies idle words, increase wastage of time and drag into death.

It lowers moral standard, corrupt good manners (1 cor15:33) and lead to failure in life. Your friend is the standard of assessing who you are and what becomes of you in life.

The friendship between a Christian and an unbeliever is called unequal yoke” as described clearly in this passage.

You have been warned Break this and seek Christian friends.

Question for the week:

•1.  What should guide the friendship of Christians and other?

•2.  Why does God not punish believers with unbeliever?

•3.  Mention three hindrances to hospitality and how Christians can overcome them.
