DIFFERENT PRINCIPLES

Memorise: “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith” (Romans 12:6)

Read: Romans 12:13-16

bornThe principles of the Kingdom and that of the world are opposites. For instance, you may need to wait in God’s presence before making any effort, but to the world, that is waste of time. Influential people may take God’s place in the world. Beloved, hold tight to the principles of the Kingdom because they work always.

When you have waited patiently in his presence, He knows how to take you far above the heights or mountains your colleagues are trying to climb. By the time they succeed in climbing the first mountain, you would already be on your seventh. This was Peter’s experience. This is so because the wisdom of the world differs from that of the Kingdom of God. Hence, Paul says, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory” (1 Cor 2:7). The world will call you a fool when you follow the path of this highest wisdom.

Before you preach that sermon, or appoint your ministers, wait on Him. He knows those who will be pillars or caterpillars to your ministry. Many churches are in ruins today because the senior pastor refused to follow God’s wisdom. Nehemiah 8:10 says those in the Kingdom derive strength from the joy of the Lord, not from mind blowing substances like hard drugs or alcohol. Attitudes also differ as obtainable from both kingdoms.

In the world, you are expected to comfort the sad and sorrowful. But Romans 12:15 says you should weep with those who are weeping. If your brother is sad and you too are sad on same account, the sorrow is shared into two and it becomes easier to bear. Anyone who can cause you sorrow must be approached with the Gospel so that the fellow could be saved and the sorrow prevented. We are also expected to rejoice with those who rejoice.

It is only members of this Kingdom who can genuinely rejoice with you when something good happens to you. Each time you get promoted in your place of work, most of those who are saying congratulations in your presence will be saying something else behind you. Don’t be deceived. You cannot trust the fair speeches of those who are not part of God’s Kingdom. Have you been following these principles? Ask God for grace to apply them daily from today.

The principles you live by determine which Kingdom you belong to – whether heavenly or earthly.
