Do You Need A Miracle? - Discipleship

What is a miracle? A miracle is something that God does for our benefit. Sometimes they can be explained, other times they can’t. Do you need a miracle in your life? Trust God and seek Him and His kingdom, and He will take care of your needs.

Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? Mark 8:17

Let me set the scene for you as to what was happening when Jesus asked His disciples these questions. The Lord was confronted by some Pharisees who started to argue with him.

They were looking for a sign that would reveal where Jesus got His authority. He said, I’m not giving them a sign, let’s get back in the boat.

They set the boat out to cross the lake. Jesus was a bit frustrated by the conversation He had with the Pharisees. Verse 12 says this.

He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? Mark 8:12

In the mean time, one of the disciples noticed that they only had one loaf of bread with them. They began to argue. Probably about whose turn it was to bring the food.

The Disciples Needed a Miracle

So there were two scenarios going on here. The Pharisees wanted a miracle but didn’t need one. The disciples needed a miracle but didn’t seem to want one.

Surely they hadn’t forgotten about the miracles the Lord had recently done. Jesus however, reminded them of when He fed 5,000 and 4,000 people and all bread they gathered after each.

At the end of this conversation with the disciples He asked them a question in verse 21. Don’t you understand yet?” Don’t you understand what?

Miracle of Bread

The disciples were concerned about going hungry. Jesus was concerned about the false teaching of the religious leaders. As much as eating is important, it isn’t a priority when it comes to the work of the kingdom.

In Matthew 6:31 Jesus says these words.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:31

The last thing we need to be doing is worrying. In verse 25 of Matthew 6 He says this. Do not worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

Trust the Lord because what is common for Him is often uncommon for us. He has a way of meeting our needs in ways that we don’t even think of. We call them miracles.

The Testimony of a Women Who Received a Miracle

Miracles are fascinating. One Sunday morning in church a lady gave a testimony about a miracle that took place in her life. God supplied her with a car. Praise God for that.

Some people might have been wondering where the miracle was. There are those who can go car shopping any time they want. So buying a car is no big deal.

Others have enough money that they can go to a lot and lay down the cash for new car. But in this lady’s mind, she needed a car and saw no way of getting one herself.

Therefore, God opened up a way and provided. She received a miracle and in her testimony, she praised God for it. Just like God met her need, He wants to meet your needs as well.

Lord, teach us to seek you and your kingdom. And when we do thank you for your promise that you will give us everything we need.
