“Do You Need Any Help?” - Enjoying the Journey
We were only a couple of years into evangelism and I was overwhelmed with the pace of it all. In fact, I was drowning in correspondence and travel requests when my friend Scott Hooks called. “Do you need any help?” I laughed. Yes, more than I could explain.
A kind member of his church had come in to express her interest in serving the Lord in some way. Kimberly Wesdyk works as a law clerk, and with her husband Jeff, is a faithful member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Hickory, NC. She was not searching for employment but was looking for a way to use her abilities in the work of God.
I still marvel that Scott called me instead of quickly giving her something to do! It was of the Lord. Tammy and I met with Kimberly when we passed through town and immediately knew this gracious lady was a Godsend.
Since that time Kimberly has taken care of our calendar, meeting requests, and correspondence with pastors. This has taken a great load off of me personally and has enabled us to be more thorough as we prepare for meetings. Numerous times in the last few months pastors, pastor’s wives, and church secretaries have commented to me on the way Kimberly has communicated and cared for details.
Godly women were a big part of the earthly ministry of our Lord (Matthew 27:55-56). The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome of the impact one woman made: “I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: that ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also” (Romans 16:1-2). The history of God’s work is replete with examples of holy women doing their part to advance the cause of Christ. I am thankful for the encouragement Kimberly has given to me and many others.
Most of you will not meet Jeff and Kimberly, but this faithful couple is making a difference in the work of Enjoying the Journey. Tammy and I are glad to count them as friends and fellow workers. You may communicate with Kimberly at office@enjoyingthejourney.org. If you are blessed to speak with her, please let her know how grateful you are for her service to Christ and to God’s people.
