Do you trust in your own abilities? - Raising Zion

All this chatter on mental health is not a surprise. It was a storm brewing since man sinned and fell short of the glory of God. No one likes bringing God into perspective because that will harm their money making schemes, their need to lust in the cares and riches of this life.

If everyone believed in God, there wouldn’t be a corporate system. There wouldn’t be a government run by people. It would be divine. Oh wait! That day is near, very near!

Soon and very soon, we’ll meet the King of kings!

I know, the GIF looks silly, but I assure you the joy will be inexplicable. We’ll be so wrapped up in love, free from the anxieties and troubles of this life.

How can we get rid of the evil of loneliness, depression, anxieties and suicidal notions? Learn to lean on God, the creator of Heaven and Earth.

The earthly man glorifies self, seeks for credit in all he accomplishes. He trusts in his abilities, and pushes others to depend on self. How far can dust go with all his strength and riches? Yet, his efforts end at the grave. He takes nothing with him. All that he worked for, sacrificing near and dear ones, gunning for status and position in the world, will only leave him empty and dissatisfied. Despair and fear of death takes his soul captive. His last days are spent in depression, unless, He calls out to God to rescue him.

The Godly man gives the glory and honour of his accomplishments to God alone. He knows he exists only because of God. He is fully aware of his identity and sets the right expectations in life. He lives for God and serves Him all the days of his life. Loving and caring for his near and dear ones, reaching out to the world and pulling people away from the evil to come.

“For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.” Psalms‬ ‭44:6‬ ‭

Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field. He was a champion with the bow and arrow. But, God had already spoken concerning his future. He was ordained to serve his brother. The brothers, Esau and Jacob, did not know it yet. Isaac, their father, loved Esau because he hunted and prepared deer meat for him. Yet, all that love and ability was pointless. Esau was spoilt by the adulation of his father, instead of being humble, he trusted his own abilities. For a soup made by Jacob, Esau lost his birthright. His reliance on self cost him a great inheritance. Gods Word was fulfilled.

“And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow” Joshua 24:12

In the above verse, God reminds Israel how He delivered them all from their enemies. How He provided them a land full of milk and honey without labouring for it. How His Word kept them safe and fulfilled promises.

Great victories are won only by trusting in God and giving Him thanks and praise for His grace in our lives. You may be gifted with talents and special abilities, give the glory to WHOM it is due.

Give God all the glory!
