Encounters
I recently came across a prayer online that piqued my interest and thought to share:
Unchanging One, I know that you are faithful to your Word. May I never stop praying, and more than that, may I never lose hope. I don’t pray to earn favor with you. Instead, I pray to know you more and to keep my life aligned in your love. It is with boldness that I ask for all that I am laying before you today. It is with faith that I present my prayers to you.
I leave behind every doubt at the door of your sanctuary. I believe that you will do what you said you would do. I believe that you have limitless power to answer my prayers and move on my behalf. May my mind be single-minded in faith. Devotion to you trumps doubt in every circumstance. You are able to do all that I ask or think. Instead of giving up hope when an answer doesn’t come in my time frame, I will press in and press on in prayer, believing and persisting until the answer comes. You are faithful, and that has not changed. So I will not lower my faith to question your consistent character. No, I will keep on praying.
This was such a beautiful prayer that I just had to create a whole post to highlight it to the attention of others that might connect with it.
A few key things that stands out to me is:
1. The writer prays and ask for help that they never stop praying and thus losing hope. The fact that when we pray it’s not to gain favor from God but for us to get to know Him better by pouring our hearts out to Him. We can be vulnerable, real and transparent before God and allow Him to share His love to us.
2. It can be very difficult to remember that God is consistent even when we do not get the response to our prayers. But to keep seeking, knocking and asking. That is part of fighting the good fight of faith.
May God help us all. Stay strengthened in faith.
