Formed in God’s Story: Old Testament Prophets

Here are the notes and podcasts you need to understand the setting of the Old Testament prophets: Isaiah – Malachi.

The Old Testament concludes with the major and minor prophets. Do you know how each of these books fits into the Bible’s story? I mean, if we don’t know the situation they were addressing, it’s hard to make sense of what God was saying through them.

Here’s your opportunity to put the Prophets in perspective. Over the next six weeks, we’ll provide you with notes and a podcast covering the background of each one so you can read them for yourself.

Here’s the schedule for the six-week course (14 Feb – 20 Mar 2024):

  • Week 1: How to approach the Prophets. Notes. Podcasts.
  • Week 2: Isaiah. Notes. Podcasts.
  • Week 3: Jeremiah. Notes. Podcasts.
  • Week 4: Ezekiel. Notes. Podcasts.
  • Week 5: Minor Prophets. Notes. Podcasts.
  • Week 6: Christ fulfilling the Prophets. Notes. Podcasts.

Notes will be available ahead of time, and the podcasts afterwards. The sessions are at Riverview Church in Perth Western Australia on Wednesday evenings. If you’d like to attend in person, please register (no charge).

Note that we’re not covering Lamentations or Daniel. Although these two are among the Prophets in our Bible, they’re not treated as prophets in the Hebrew text.

Clearly, we’re not covering everything in all these books. The goal is to empower you to read them for yourself, the background setting to make sense of them.

Bookmark this page so you can grab the Notes and Podcasts as they’re released each week.
