George Floyd

    Seeking Christ

On May 31, 2020 by Reading Time: < 1 minute

    I watched George Floyd die.

I asked, “Jesus, where are you there?” Two words immediately came to mind, Christ Crushed, from Isaiah 53:5.

A conversation Elie Wiesel described in his book, Night, replays in my mind. As he watched a young boy slowly choke to death, hanging from gallows in a concentration camp, he heard a man asking, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“For God’s sake, where is God?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And from within him, he heard a voice answer, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Where He is? This is where–hanging here from this gallows…” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Christ with the crushed – so much so that Christ was crushed for the crushed.

Our hope lies in Isaiah 53:10-12.  It was the Lord’s good plan – Christ counted among the crushed then risen in victory so the crushed could be counted righteous, alive.

SpaceX attempted to launch as riots broke across the country, but the weather intervened.

That night a storm blew over my house snuffing out the lights of men while God displayed his power in the sky. I stood in its midst for 30 minutes, drenched. I wished to be one with the Storm, run with His rain and unite with His thunderous voice.

Trump wondered why SpaceX didn’t simply delay ten minutes for the weather to clear.

A lead engineer explained a one-second window exists for the mission to succeed.

You see, great and valuable things are not created without a perfect, detailed plan.

And men are not made by accident – the very reason all lives matter and Christ came.

And Christ will come again, like a storm, Faithful and True, judging with justice.
