God is helper: How to receive help from God

Memorise: “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee” (Is 41:13)Read: Isaiah 41:8-14

Naaman the captain of the Syrian army was described as a great man in 2 Kings 5:1. With his intimidating credentials when compared with the captain of the heavenly host, he was very limited. He was great yet he was still a man. He was subject to falling asleep and forgetting things like any other man. Naaman was a great man yet he was capable of failing. He could get tired or be discouraged.helperBut the captain of the Heavenly Host never fails, faints or gets tired (Isaiah 40:28). It is a dangerous thing to trust in great men, wealthy men or even your leaders because they can disappoint you any time their strength, wisdom, resources or morals fail them. Jeremiah 17:5 says those who trust in such human beings come under a curse. Another truth to note about Naaman is that although he was the one leading Syria into battle fields, nevertheless, each victory was delivered by God. You may be brilliant but academic success comes from God.You may be married but having a home is from God. You may have lots of things to make you happy but joy comes from God. You may have diverse security devices but safety is a product that only Heaven can deliver to you.

“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence” (Ps 91:3). Deliverance is from God. The strength of Naaman did not deliver the countries he fought into his hands. Whatever you are today is not by your power, wisdom or making. If you did not follow Satan’s route, then be rest assured it is God at work in your life.

Realizing that your progress is not entirely your making may deflate your ego, yet it brings good news to you: the God working behind the scene to get you to where you are, will ensure you reach your destination.

A minister of God took ill some time ago. He lost so much strength through vomiting and stooling. When he went for medication, because he could not retain anything in his stomach, he had to stay in a hospital for about 24 hours for the first time since he knew Christ some 26 years ago.

Meanwhile, he made several attempts back home to leave the bedroom to go to the sitting room, but could not for lack of strength. He had earlier been invited to attend a preaching engagement. On that day, he dressed up shivering and drove there. Suddenly strength came and he preached and ministered in the power of the Holy Ghost. He could not believe it.

By the time he returned home, the anointing left and he realized he could not leave the bed. Then he knew it’s not by power! Appreciate God for all He is doing through you. It’s not you, but Him.

The one who is truly secured is the one employing heavenly security services.By Pastor Enoch Adeboye
