Have you stopped to Consider the Birds? - Jewell Utt
This year has brought significant change. For me it meant rest and reflection, seeking the presence of the Lord. At first, I resisted the idea of slowing down, uncertain whether I was hearing from Spirit or Flesh. But my surrender came in the most unusual way … watching a graceful hawk soar through the skies.
Observing the Red-tailed Hawk stirred a longing in me for the peace and freedom he experienced. Although, I spent regular time in prayer, Bible reading, and thought my mind kept wandering to the urgent needs of the day.
Watching the hawk instilled a calm I hadn’t felt in weeks. Have you ever had one thing after another present problems, yet you continue to plug along?
Perhaps God is trying to get your attention. He got mine. Just seeing the hawk slowed me down and made me appreciate creation and my relationship to the Creator in a deeper way.
When I began to Consider the Birds regularly, I saw unmistakable parallels between their behavior and ours. Thus, the idea for the book was born. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Is God trying to get your attention? Take some time to consider the birds and see how He speaks to your heart.
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
