He’s Baack!
“He’s baack!” What ominous words when spoken of the sudden reappearance of Freddie Krueger.
“He’s baack!” What rousing words when spoken of the return of Donald Trump to the presidency.
“He’s baack!” What thrilling words when spoken of a fresh vision of our Lord!
Just now you may be experiencing a dryness of the wilderness, attributable to the fact that you and the Lord are not close. That fact alone would explain the resurgence of your flesh and the resultant pattern of succumbing to sin.
Just know that making formulas out of biblical principles isn’t going to get you out of this—you need God back in your life!
I love that verse in the Bible which says, “After these things Jesus showed himself again to his disciples.” Roy Hession said:
I call it a revival text because it contains that little word “again”; and again is built into the word revival, for the prefix re is simply the Latin for again. Revival, then, is simply God doing something again.
Although Charles Finney is right when he says that revival always presupposes a declension, that little word “again” indicates that Jesus is not defeated by our declension, but stoops to do again that work in our heart which has declined. And he does so by showing himself again to his disciples.
Is this what you need? Then ask Jesus right now to show himself to you—again! And in making this request you can be encouraged that this is exactly what the Lord wants to do!
Once the Lord shows himself again to his children, the resulting magnetism elevates them to an atmosphere where the self-life simply can’t function. And this elevation—referred to by some as the resurrected life—means that flesh-dominated living is over and the romance of that rescuing and revitalizing rendezvous with God has begun.
Knowing this, how will you respond to the announcement, “He’s baack”?
