Hopkins Bay Resort, a Muy’Ono Resort

Located just two-and-a-half-hours from Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge lies Hopkins Bay Resort, also a Muy’Ono Resorts property, although offering beachfront views instead of the jungle. It was hard not to feel relaxed as we settled into our Two Bedroom Beachview Room, the most perfect accommodations for a family. These rooms boasted two separate bathrooms and bedrooms, a kitchenette and common room as well as an oversized patio with three separate entry storm doors perfect for playing on the porch.

Located just steps from the beach, our boys especially loved the many on-site games offered from bocce ball, volleyball, Giant Jenga and more. Mealtimes at Hopkins Bay Resort went seamlessly as the boys spent their time playing with new friends they had met on the sand, giving us alone time to dine while they happily played. Views of the dock and pier made for the perfect background at The Rhum Shack, Hopkins Bay Resort‘s on-site restaurant, and while there, everything felt like calm and relaxing island time.

Muy’Ono Resorts offers fabulous excursions that you can book from Hopkins Bay and I am so glad that we chose the snorkeling and fishing excursion. We were interested in several excursions that Hopkins Bay Resort had available but many were sold out, so Hopkins Bay Resort staff were kind enough to set us up with a local tour company that mimicked the exact Muy’Ono Resorts tour so that we did not miss out.

One of the highlights of our time on the beach in Belize, we enjoyed the opportunity to fish off the chartered boat, even catching two big barracudas that we later brought back to Hopkins Bay Resort to have blackened for us for dinner. We loved the island excursion to Sweetwater Caye, a shallow and beautiful, turquoise water area off the coast of Belize where the boys swam their little hearts out, looking for fish. One of our favorite memories was snorkeling on the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world, and seeing exotic sea creatures like schools of brightly-colored fish, stingrays and nurse sharks. It was an excursion that we could not easily forget.

We also really enjoyed the two large, kid-friendly pools at Hopkins Bay Resort, perfect for our our strong swimming-son and also perfect for our younger son who prefers to swim in shallow water. It was a great way to spend the day, piña colada in hand, hearing the sounds of the ocean within view as our boys splashed in the pool. Hopkins Bay Resort also had a fabulous staff which made the stay feel welcoming and like-home. These staff members went above and beyond to remember our names and preferences and ended up feeling like family when we left.

Some things not to miss at Hopkins Bay Resort:

    1. Do not miss the chance to snorkel the nearby Belize Barrier Reef! This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was incredible and we are so glad that we chose this excursion while at Hopkins Bay.
    2. The piña coladas are beyond excellent and the kid-friendly version are delicious, too!
    3. Flytographer, a destination photography service, offers photo shoots in the Hopkins Bay area and we highly recommend their services to capture your sweet, Belizean beach memories. If you book in 2021, use code GOANDDOGOOD50 to take $50 off your shoot.

    And Do Good:

Hopkins Bay Resort donates $2 BZD for every occupied room night to a worthy community program, school, or non-profit organization in need of financial assistance. Each month we select a different beneficiary organization, with past organizations being Basketball Court Rehabilitation Project, Cayo Deaf Education & Farm Institute, Cancer Society and more.

Muy’Ono Resorts believe every traveler should have the opportunity to travel better. This doesn’t just mean better experiences for the traveler, but also making the places traveled to better. That’s why Muy’Ono Resorts focus on preserving the beauty of Belize through philanthropy, sustainability, celebrating culture, and creating “WOW!”

By choosing a Muy’Ono Resort, you’re truly choosing to travel better. Your choice to stay with Muy’Ono Resorts directly makes an impact because Muy’Ono Resorts donate a portion of every night booked to worthy local charities. Muy’Ono Resorts also pledge not to use any single-use plastic and have invested in sustainable power sources, among various other initiatives.

As a whole, Muy’Ono Initiative has raised $133,382 BZD for its local community, provided 300 local jobs and saved the usage of over a million water bottles.

A Yummy Weekend in Sardinia, Italy

We had the best trip to Sardinia, Italy recently! What fun it was to experience the Mediterranean coastline of another country besides just Spain. Sardinia had many similarities to Mallorca, Spain expect a main difference: the food! We indulged in some delicious Italian food from homemade pizzas to pastas and gelato – Italy’s food really […]

        Six Months Living Abroad

It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since we moved to Madrid, Spain! I have less “pinch me” moments now and honestly, it’s beginning to just feel like our norm. I had an emotional moment this past week, though, as I met with other expat moms at a local Tres Cantos park […]
