How AI and AGI will impact Christianity
DISCLAIMER: If you feed this to an LLM to summarize, it will think I am deeply distressed? for whatever reason.
I had the time of my life writing this, and I am not deeply distressed at all!
"If you don't have a personal agent filtering out the slop, you will drown. If you don't have a personal agent running your cyberdefense, you will be hacked. This is the new divide. Choose open or closed, choose the company you like best, but choose soon." - Andrew Curran, AI Analyst, on X
I saw this X post, and it spoke to me personally.
Robert Breaker in 2025 used ChatGPT to generate "quotes" for his book, The Unbroken Chain of Salvation, instead of doing research, or doing research such as giving Patrologia Graeca to ChatGPT and having it see and then do research.
The entire book was a "treatise" to justify his soteriology, and Chapters 8 and 9 were the chapters "proving" him right.
99% of those chapters were AI-generated.
It took a former friend of mine two days to go through every chapter of Chapter 8 (which, offhandedly, he didn't do a very thorough job on, as I have to still redo his paperwork).
It took me, give or take, three to four days of 24/7 work going through Chapter 9 to debunk it.
And that is with 2025 ChatGPT 5.
Sam Altman defined ChatGPT 6 (which is the number of a man) as true AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, which means it is as smart as the general son of Adam.
That was contested, but his "Bel" model is incredibly intelligent and apparently an AGI-threshold model.
Anthropic's Claude 6 will undoubtedly be better than ChatGPT 6 will ever be, if it isn't AGI.
And if we assume AGI is smarter than man, equivalent to Einstein, what happens when Robert Breaker has AGI?
ChatGPT-5 (the GPT Robert Breaker probably used) essentially just hallucinated a metric ton of fake quotes, and it took time to sort through the massive pile of dung to see it was fake.
What happens when Robert Breaker's AGI Popoff (after Peter Popoff, who faked things) reads direct Latin text from some obscure medieval manuscripts and then makes an argument that looks good and reads well, but when you look into the original Latin, you see it's junk?
The problem is that every denomination and sect of Christendom had convincing defenders, EVEN if it wasn't biblical.
The Montanist heretics, who taught that two women were priestesses and mouthpieces for the Paraclete and that New Jerusalem would be dropped on Pepuza and Tymion in modern-day Turkey, had the cunning Tertullian.
Water baptism and predestination had Augustine (who is the Calvinists' best friend).
Roman Catholicism had Aquinas, who, whether you love him or hate him (and I feel no love for him), was a cunning, wildly intelligent man.
Calvinism had John Calvin, who was very intelligent (whether you love him or hate him; I feel the same about him as I do about Aquinas).
But they were all humans. Augustine could write a beautifully persuasive (even if heretical) treatise on predestination, but when it came to being persuasive on baby baptism, he could be a flop in water.
AGI does not suffer from those issues. When it is good on one thing, it is good on another.
I remember that former friend told me condescendingly this about Popoff's future owner: that he was ordained by God to be our heretic (in some weird predestination thing; Augustine and John Calvin would be proud). The former friend kept looking down at me as he continued.
Imagine if there was a smart, cunning person in our sphere?
But what he does not know is that, as gunpowder made the starved peasant boy equal to the noble on the battlefield, so will AGI make the heretics of today equal to the greatest heretics of old.
For it does not matter who he is, but what he holds.
And if he has a Popoff who can pop off, he is going to win.
And unless you own more AGI to fight Robert's Popoff popping off, then you're going to lose.
What was once a blue-moon event, a man being wildly intelligent, will now be an everyday occurrence.
Everyone doctrinally wrong down the street can go to Best Buy and buy an AI that will be smarter than Augustine and Aquinas combined.
It doesn't matter how intelligent the person holding the weapon is; as long as they can own it, the weapon swings itself!
If God ordained a man to be our heretic because he wasn't intelligent (he did not), He did a bad job by letting the man own an AGI smarter and more cunning than Aquinas. This then means that God did not ordain him to be our idiot.
Every sect in Christianity will own this! The Mormons will own swarms of AGI that will go through every textual criticism manuscript to falsely but convincingly prove that the great apostasy occurred.
There is a difference between being persuasive and being correct.
Satan was persuasive in the garden, but he was not correct.
AGI owned by false teachers will be persuasive, but not correct.
I believe this is some form of the great delusion, albeit a modern-day church application. The full fulfillment is future, in the tribulation.
What happens when Popoff ghostwrites YouTube videos, decides to optimize SEO, transcribes videos into articles, trains a text-to-speech model in his voice, uploads videos in EVERY language and every tongue, and uploads optimized SEO articles and beautifully written treatises that are absolutely doctrinally rotten? What then? Where is God to predestinate the AGI Popoff to be an idiot?
Where was God?
The point is, God did not predestinate him to be idiotic. He will one day have Aquinas-equivalent intelligent AGI writing for him.
And what then for your views of God predestinating men to be idiots?
Yet remember what Andrew Curran said:
"If you don't have a personal agent running your cyberdefense, you will be hacked."
Every single sect in Christendom will be posting the most beautifully persuasive garbage with all the intellectual vigor of Tertullian, Augustine, Aquinas, and John Calvin, all to try to convince you of some false heresy.
2 Timothy 4:3: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"
If you look at church history, you will know. What has actually changed between now and the 1800s?
I suppose you can watch more false teachers than in the 1800s, when you had to buy books, but the 1800s still had false teachers.
What's changed?
There will be hordes and hordes of internet "teachers" who are actually AGI, giving false teachings under the umbrella of whatever sect is guiding them.
That has to be fulfilled by this.
While we are seeing this now partially with YouTubers, Robert Breaker, and every other "teacher" falsely so called, notice this: "but after their own lusts" means the heaping of false teachers is personalized.
"The ideal, he said, is a 'very tiny reasoning model with a trillion tokens of context that you put your whole life into."
""This model can reason across your whole context and do it efficiently. And every conversation you've ever had in your life, every book you've ever read, every email you've ever read, everything you've ever looked at is in there, plus connected to all your data from other sources. And your life just keeps appending to the context." - Sam Altman
This AGI will be able to generate every single teaching according to your lusts, teaching that tickles your ears.
Unless you have a personal AGI defending your theology, you will be destroyed.
While according to their lusts, they will heap to themselves teachers.
You have to have your own AGI to be able to debunk the false teaching.
And so then I must have two or three AGI to fight Popoff and however many others he owns.
Peace and grace. The grace of God and Christ Jesus be with you.
