What does the Bible says about relationship with God?

Colossians 3:1-2

[1]If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. [2]Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

That is apt and straightforward. Set your mind on things above and not on things on the earth. This practice can greatly help you to maintain a good and improving relationship with God.

How can I build a relationship with God? Role of gifts

Many have mistaken the use of their spiritual gifts as a testament that they have a relationship with God. This is not true. You will see from the Bible story below.

Truly they did mighty work but sadly they also did lawlessness! They really don’t have a relationship with Jesus and His Word. The gifts were speaking very loudly but their virtues and characters were dumb!

Gifts cannot take you to heaven

It’s a pity that gifts cannot take you to heaven. Only those who truly have a relationship with God and His Word will get to heaven when Jesus returns.

Jesus said to them: Matthew 7:22-23

[22]Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’

[23]And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

That story and parable from Jesus usually help me to understand the necessity and the importance of having s relationship with the almighty God.

How to build a relationship with God: Examine yourself

Examine yourself today. Do you truly have a relationship with Jesus? Don’t deceive yourself.

Your eye service activities in the church is nothing if you don’t truly have a relationship with Jesus.

Your demonstration of spiritual gifts in church or anywhere do not count for anything if you are also deep into lawlessness.

In case, you have not even started a Father-son relationship with God, you should start from here. If you want to start a relationship with God today, you can say the salvation prayer:

God, thank you for this opportunity. I am a sinner and I want you to forgive. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe He died in the Cross at Calvary to wash away my sin.

I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior today. Thank you for answering my prayers, I believe I am saved now”

Congratulations to you. You are now born. You are now a child of God. You have started a Father-son relationship with your Creator.
